You guys, the Lucid Gravity might be the most impressive electric SUV I've experienced. Over 440 miles of range — that's not a typo. Seats that fold completely flat to create 120 cubic feet of cargo. A Glass Canopy roof that makes the cabin feel massive. And the interior quality is genuinely luxurious. Lucid is the real deal, and the Gravity is their statement piece.
Why I'm Excited About the Gravity
Okay, you guys know I love EVs. I own multiple Teslas and I've driven basically every electric vehicle out there. But when Lucid announced the Gravity, I was IMMEDIATELY interested. Here's why: Lucid has the most efficient EV powertrain in the industry. They get more miles per kilowatt-hour than anyone — including Tesla. And they packed that efficiency into a full-size three-row luxury SUV.
I just got to spend time with the Gravity in February 2026 and I'm genuinely really impressed. This isn't some startup making promises — this is a real production vehicle that delivers on every spec. Let me walk you through it.
440+ Miles of Range — Class-Leading
Let's start with the headline number: over 440 miles of EPA estimated range on the Grand Touring trim. That is INSANE for a three-row SUV. To put it in perspective:
- Tesla Model X: 348 miles
- BMW iX xDrive50: ~324 miles
- Mercedes EQS SUV: ~305 miles
- Lucid Gravity Grand Touring: 440+ miles
It's not even close. The Gravity has nearly 100 miles more range than the next best luxury electric SUV. That means you can drive from LA to San Francisco without stopping to charge. That's the kind of range that eliminates anxiety completely.
How does Lucid do it? Their in-house 900V electrical architecture and incredibly efficient motor design. They literally hold the record for the most efficient EV drivetrain, and it shows. You get more range from less battery, which also means faster charging — Lucid claims up to 200 miles of range added in about 15 minutes on a DC fast charger.
The Flat-Folding Seats — 120 Cu Ft of Cargo
This is the feature that made my jaw drop. The second and third rows fold COMPLETELY flat at the push of a button. Not kind-of flat. Not almost flat. Completely, 100% flat — flush with the cargo floor. No bumps, no gaps, no awkward angles.
When everything is folded down, you get 120 cubic feet of cargo space. That is absolutely massive. For comparison, the Tesla Model X maxes out at about 91 cubic feet. The Gravity gives you almost 30% more space. You could fit full sheets of plywood. You could set up an air mattress for car camping. It's borderline RV territory.
Even with all three rows up, the cargo area behind the third row is usable and the third-row seats are legitimately comfortable for adults. Lucid designed the packaging so efficiently that every row has real, generous space.
Interior & Glass Canopy — Pure Luxury
Step inside the Gravity and it's immediately clear this is a luxury vehicle. The materials are gorgeous — real metal, soft leather (or sustainable alternatives), and a level of fit and finish that rivals anything from Mercedes or BMW.
The centerpiece is the Glass Canopy roof. It's a massive single-piece glass panel that stretches from the windshield all the way over the second row. It floods the cabin with natural light and makes the interior feel enormous. There's an electrochromic shade that can go opaque at the touch of a button for when you want to block out the sun.
The Pilot Panel — Lucid's curved floating display — is stunning. It's a massive screen that wraps around the driver, showing navigation, vehicle info, and media. There's also a lower touchscreen for climate and vehicle controls, plus a rear entertainment system. The 3D Surreal Sound system by Dolby Atmos delivers concert-quality audio from 21+ speakers. It's an experience.
Performance
Don't let the luxury fool you — the Gravity is seriously fast. With dual electric motors producing up to 828 horsepower, it does 0-60 in as fast as 3.5 seconds. For a vehicle this size and this comfortable, that's incredible.
The air suspension provides a smooth, controlled ride at highway speeds and can raise for ground clearance on rough roads. AWD is standard, and the handling is surprisingly agile for a three-row SUV thanks to a low center of gravity (the battery pack is in the floor).
- Grand Touring: 440+ miles range, 0-60 in ~3.5s, ~$94,900
- Touring: Strong range, ~$79,900 starting
- Seating: Up to 7 passengers in three rows
- Cargo: Up to 120 cu ft with seats folded flat
- Charging: 900V architecture, ~200 miles in 15 min DC fast charge
- Horsepower: Up to 828 HP
How It Compares to Tesla
I know the comparison everyone wants: Lucid Gravity vs Tesla Model X. I own a Model X, so let me give you an honest take:
Gravity wins on: Range (440+ vs 348 miles), cargo space (120 vs 91 cu ft), interior luxury and materials, ride comfort, and the Glass Canopy roof experience.
Model X wins on: Supercharger network (still the most reliable and widespread), software setup (Tesla's OTA updates and app integration are best-in-class), Autopilot/FSD maturity, falcon wing doors (nothing else like them), and built-in gaming/entertainment.
They're both excellent vehicles for different reasons. If range and luxury are your top priorities, the Gravity is hard to beat. If you want the best tech setup and charging infrastructure, the Model X still has the edge. I love both for different reasons.
What I Love
- 440+ miles of range — nothing else comes close
- 120 cu ft cargo with completely flat-folding seats
- Glass Canopy roof is breathtaking
- Genuinely luxury interior quality
- 900V fast charging — 200 miles in 15 min
- 828 HP with 0-60 in 3.5 seconds
- Comfortable third row for adults
- Dolby Atmos 21+ speaker sound system
Worth Noting
- Lucid's charging network is smaller than Tesla's Supercharger
- Software and infotainment still maturing vs Tesla
- Starting at ~$80K, it's a premium price
- Lucid service center availability is still limited
Should You Buy One?
If you want the longest-range electric SUV money can buy, with luxury that matches the European brands and cargo versatility that beats them all — the Lucid Gravity is absolutely worth your consideration. It's a statement vehicle that backs up its claims with real engineering.
Lucid is still a smaller company than Tesla or the legacy automakers, which means fewer service centers and a less mature software setup. But the hardware — the range, the efficiency, the build quality — is legitimately best-in-class. I'm incredibly impressed and I think you will be too.
