The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is the most capable robot vacuum I've used. 10,000Pa suction, dual spinning mop pads, AI obstacle avoidance with a camera, and a dock that washes, dries, refills water, and empties dust automatically. I literally don't touch it for weeks at a time.
10,000Pa Suction
10,000Pa is massive for a robot vacuum. It picks up everything — pet hair, cereal crumbs, fine dust, debris in carpet fibers. The DuoRoller brush system with rubber rollers resists hair tangles, which is huge if you have pets.
Dual Spinning Mop
Two spinning mop pads rotate at high speed to scrub floors. The mop lifts automatically when it detects carpet so it only mops hard floors. On hard floors, it applies consistent pressure for genuine scrubbing — not just pushing water around.
AI Obstacle Avoidance
The Reactive AI 2.0 system uses a camera and 3D structured light to identify and avoid obstacles — shoes, cables, pet toys, socks. It creates a map of your home and navigates intelligently. I've watched it carefully maneuver around my kids' toys without getting stuck once.
The Dock Does Everything
The RockDock Ultra automatically empties dust (up to 7 weeks of capacity), washes the mop pads with hot water, dries them with hot air (so they don't get musty), and refills the clean water tank. You literally just empty the dust bag and refill the water tank every few weeks. That's it.
Smart Home Integration
Works with Alexa, Google Home, and Siri Shortcuts. The Roborock app gives you detailed maps, room-specific cleaning settings, no-go zones, and scheduling. You can send it to clean specific rooms on demand.
What I Love
- 10,000Pa suction handles everything
- Dual spinning mop actually scrubs
- AI avoids obstacles reliably
- Dock washes, dries, empties, refills
- Detailed mapping and room control
What Could Be Better
- $1,799 is a significant investment
- Dock is large and needs floor space
- Camera raises privacy concerns for some
- Mop won't deep-clean like a human
